Alfred Mudgett began his monument career in 1936 serving a
4 year apprenticeship. After working for many of the large manufacturers and
gaining much knowledge, he, along with his wife, Lena, and four sons moved to
Ohio and started Mudgett's Monuments on the East Pike in Zanesville.
After 51 years in the business, Al decided to retire. After
working with his father for many years, Kim and his wife, Margaret purchased
the business and built a new facility, moving 1/4 mile to 5705 East Pike. They
were soon joined by their son, Reid, making three generations of a family
owned business.
Reid has attended many monument training seminars at
Elberton Granite Association and Monument Builders of North America in Chicago
and Indianapolis, and was awarded a Mark of Excellence in the design
competition presented at the 55th annual convention of the Monument
Builders of North America Association in Las Vegas.
Reid now does all the carving and lettering at Mudgett's
Monuments along with designing many public memorials.
When you deal at Mudgett's, you talk to people that know
monuments and understand your needs. We realize the stress associated with the
selection of a monument for a loved one. We maintain a pleasant
atmosphere with no high pressure sales. We won't be satisfied until you are.
We welcome anyone to visit our large indoor and outside
display and shop area to see how monuments are made.
